Captioned Telephone Eligibility: What the FCC Wants Providers to Know

Presented: Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 12:00 pm ET

The FCC has recently reformed captioned telephone services requirements and eligibility. Do you know how to operate within the law?

The use of Internet Protocol Captioned Telephone Service (IP CTS), available to individuals who are hard of hearing and have difficulty comprehending conversations over the telephone, has grown 1250% in the last 7 years. The rising costs are subsidized through the FCC's Telecommunications Relay Service fund and new rules and requirements are now in place to qualify individuals. Whether you're new to captioned telephone service or want to remain informed of the changes, this webinar will give you all the ins and outs about IP CTS and how you can help your patients. Join us and the FCC's Deputy Chief Eliot Greenwald and Attorney Advisor Michael Scott from the Disability Rights Office as they cover the basics of IP CTS, how individuals register for the program and the role hearing health professionals may fill in evaluating whether an individual needs IP CTS for effective telephone communication.
