Support through Financial Giving

As a member of the International Hearing Society, you have the power to shape the future of our profession. Whether through advocacy funding, capital campaign contributions, foundation support, or planned giving, your generosity fuels programs that protect, educate, and elevate hearing aid professionals worldwide. IHS has various opportunities to contribute to advancing its mission.

Support our Advocacy Work

IHS advocacy efforts are powered entirely by voluntary member and partner contributions, ensuring hearing healthcare professionals are represented at every level of government. Your donation strengthens our ability to protect licensure, expand access, and secure recognition for Hearing Aid Specialists across the U.S., Canada, and worldwide.

IHS World Headquarters Capital Campaign

Purchase a commemorative brick for $500, and your name, business, or the name of someone you wish to honor, will be engraved and placed in the courtyard entrance of the headquarters. This symbolic gesture not only celebrates your commitment to IHS, but also supports a space designed for learning, collaboration, and innovation.

IHS Foundation

The International Hearing Society Foundation is a separate 501c(3) entity that partners with IHS to support educational programs for Hearing Aid Specialists and candidates through scholarships and gifts.

Museum Donations

The Hearing Aid Profession Museum, sponsored by Starkey, accepts historical items and monetary donations to support the operations of the Museum.

Understanding the Tax Status of Your IHS Donation

International Hearing Society (IHS) is a 501(c)6 nonprofit professional association. Contributions or gifts to IHS are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. However, they may be tax deductible under other provisions of the Internal Revenue Code. IHS recommends consulting your tax professional with questions regarding the potential deductibility of your donation as other than a charitable contribution.

IHS Foundation, which is a separate organization, is a 501(c)3, therefore donations to IHS Foundation may be tax-deductible. Again, IHS recommends consulting your tax professional with questions regarding the potential deductibility of your donation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Donations & Gifts

These are some of the most common inquiries we receive. Contact IHS if you have any additional questions. We are here to help you!

  • Is my donation tax-deductible?

Donations to IHS (a 501(c)(6)) are not tax‑deductible as charitable contributions, though they may be deductible under other IRS provisions. Donations to the IHS Foundation (a 501(c)(3)) may be tax‑deductible as charitable contributions. We recommend consulting your tax professional for guidance.

  • Why should I consider giving to the International Hearing Society (IHS)?

Your support directly strengthens the hearing healthcare profession. Donations help fund advocacy, education, professional development, and long‑term initiatives that protect licensure, elevate Hearing Aid Specialists, and expand access to quality hearing care worldwide.

  • Are the details of donors, gifts, and/or amounts made public?

IHS recognizes our Advocacy donors in our publications, such as The Hearing Professional magazine.  For major gifts, IHS will work with the donor to determine whether they would like their gift to be publicized.

  • Can I donate or loan an item to the museum?

Yes, we welcome contributions that help tell the story of the profession. You may donate artifacts permanently or offer them on loan. Submit an item for consideration.

All submissions are reviewed by the Museum Curators Committee based on relevance, condition, and exhibit needs.
