Alan Lowell, ACA, BC‑HIS, became a licensed Hearing Aid Specialist in 1974 and has spent more than five decades advancing the hearing healthcare profession through leadership, education, and service.

Recognizing the need for stronger educational resources, he founded Alan Lowell Seminars in 1977, creating training programs that have helped thousands of apprentices, audiologists, and other medical professionals become licensed Hearing Aid Specialists. His materials have supported both foundational skill development and advanced preparation for board certification and cerumen management.

Alongside building a successful independent practice, Alan committed himself to elevating professional standards. His volunteer service began in 1977 as Chair of the Florida Hearing Society’s Education Committee and continued for decades, always driven by his dedication to Hearing Aid Specialists and the patients they serve. A skilled collaborator, Alan played a key role in mediating the separation of two Florida organizations, resulting in the formation of a new IHS Chapter that went on to earn Chapter of the Year in the 1980s. He also helped pioneer a joint initiative between NBC‑HIS and IHS to develop a new psychometric licensing examination—strengthening certification standards nationwide. His personal commitment to education is reflected in his own achievements, including Board Certification and the ACA designation from the American College of Audioprosthology.
