Mike Stone is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and a lifelong resident of the “Bluegrass State.”  He is married to, according to him, the greatest woman in the world…Debbie Shemwell Stone. They have two children…Ashley and Christopher. He is the fourth-generation owner of Stone-Lang Company and a third generation Hearing Instrument Specialist. Stone-Lang was founded in 1876. This year, 2026, Stone-Lang Company is celebrating 150 years of continuous operation.

Mike Stone is well known in the hearing healthcare industry…having served in many leadership positions. Mike was a Better Hearing Institute board member for several years; he contributed to the National Board for Certification in Hearing Instrument Sciences (NBC-HIS) Exam Committee during its formative years and has served multiple terms on the NBC-HIS Board. He is a past-chairman of the International Institute for Hearing Instrument Studies and past-president of the International Hearing Society. Mike is a past-president of the Hearing Aid Association of Kentucky and has served approximately 20 years on the Kentucky Board for Licensing Specialists in Hearing Instruments, many of them as chairman.

Mike is the recipient of several hearing industry awards, including the Hearing Instruments Magazine “Distinguished Service Award,” The Hearing Review Magazine “Professional Leadership Award,” and The Hearing Journal’s “Joel S. Wernick Excellence in Education Award.”

Within his community of Paducah, Kentucky, Mike has been extremely involved. Mike is past president of the Rotary Club of Paducah, Chairman Emeritus of the Luther F. Carson Performing Arts Center and currently serves on the Barkley Regional Airport Board of Directors. Mike has been honored with the title of Duke of Paducah and as a Kentucky Colonel.
