The Editorial Committee influences the content of IHS’ publications like The Hearing Professional magazine and Soundboard e-Newsletters, public awareness campaigns, and other communications.

Committee members often may:

  • Review content for technical and clinical veracity
  • Suggest potential content ideas, contributors, or may write content

Qualifications for Committee Members

  • Membership: Must be an IHS member in good standing (including affiliate and associate members). 
  • Professional Representation: We seek a range of dispensing, front office, and industry representatives from the hearing aid manufacturing or distribution sector.
  • Experience Requirements:
    • Dispensing professionals: minimum of one year experience dispensing hearing aids, working the front office, training, or other facets of the hearing healthcare profession. 
    • Non-dispensing individuals: minimum of two years of experience in the hearing health industry, with demonstrated knowledge of the Hearing Aid Specialist profession.
  • Variety of Backgrounds: Preference for candidates with a range of experience levels to ensure balanced perspectives. 
  • Time Commitment: 
    • Attend virtual meetings quarterly (with potential to expand to bi-monthly in the second year), lasting one to two hours.
    • Dedicate time independently to generate content ideas and articles.
    • Review articles for publication on a quarterly basis – typically 1-2 hours per article.
