FARMINGTON HILLS, MI – March 31, 2026 – This year marks the International Hearing Society’s (IHS) 75th anniversary as a Society serving hearing healthcare professionals who specialize in delivering hearing evaluations and hearing aid services. IHS is excited to celebrate this milestone under the theme of “Uniting Generations, Advancing Hearing Care” with a focus on four areas: advocacy, relationships, communication, and education. These cornerstones of IHS have shaped the profession, the organization, and IHS’ collective service to individuals with hearing loss.

IHS members and interested parties may celebrate IHS’ 75-year legacy by sharing their stories, photos, and history with IHS. You can do so by using this link.

On its anniversary, IHS President Michael Andreozzi, BS, BC-HIS, said, “For seven-and-a-half decades, our Society has stood as a constant source of guidance and a model of standards in a healthcare sector that continues to evolve rapidly. As we honor our 75-year legacy, we look ahead with optimism. We are committed to developing our Society to reflect the needs of today’s hearing healthcare professionals, who are more connected, more innovative, and more equipped for the ever-changing future.”

As the International Hearing Society continues to support hearing healthcare professionals, the demand for hearing healthcare professionals’ expertise is increasing. In a recent report based on recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Hearing Aid Specialist was ranked eighth in the top ten fastest growing health care jobs. This ranking, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, is based on their projected growth rate from 2024 to 2034.

If you are considering a career shift, consider becoming a Hearing Aid Specialist. Not only is it a profession experiencing growth and increased demand, it is an incredibly fulfilling and rewarding profession that generally relies on an apprenticing model, making it more attainable regardless of previous schooling level. IHS anniversary celebrations will continue all year long, with the pinnacle celebration held at the IHS 2026 Conference & Expo, taking place in Washington, D.C., from August 12-15. The event will draw hearing healthcare professionals from around the world to network and participate in engaging sessions, all while earning continuing education. For those training for licensure, there will be a trainee masterclass that will help candidates prepare for their next steps in the process. Check out the event here and consider joining us for the event of the year in hearing healthcare.
